Hi,
I need some help please! It's quite urgent!
So, there's the situation: I'm a 17-year-old Italian and next summer I'd like to work in the US for about 2 months.
I know the Visa Waiver Program is not enough anymore if I want to work there, so I've searched on the US embassy website and it looks like I need an H-2B visa, which is good for a temporary worker, is this correct?
Anyway, here's the problem: I'm still searching for a job (something like McDonald's or Wal Mart) but when I try to apply for it, all the companies ask for my Social Security Number, which I don't have of course...
After some reading, I found out I can get a SSN, but I need a permission to work from DHS (which is not too hard to get) AND the I-94 form. That means I already need to be in the States in order to apply for an SSN, and then wait 2 weeks to have it!
As a consequence, I could apply for a job only 2 weeks after I flew to USA, which is impossible for me, as I'm planning to stay 2 months only and I wouldn't find any job in so little time anyway.
What can I do, is there another way? I can't believe it's so hard to work in a foreign country...
One last thing, I've also contacted Disney for a job and they told me they could provide me a TEMPORARY SSN so that I could apply for the job! (unfortunately, they have no jobs for me)
Does that mean there is a way to get a temporary social security number???
If yes, why only Disney told me about it?
Thank you in advance for your help!
Niccolò
