I-94 Validity date

Friends,

I am on a H1B visa. My I-94 has the validity till Nov 17,2013. Does that mean I have to leave the country before this date and re-enter or can I stay till my validity of I-797 notice.

Please give in your inputs.

I have been on H4 visa for a while and now recently recaptured those dates when i got a new job, following which my current I-797 is valid till MAY 2014.(but my I-94 is still valid only till Nov 17, 2013).

With the approved I797 didnt you get a new I-94? Check the bottom part of the I797 approval notice, if there is a I-94 you are good to stay till then. If not then technically you still are not on H1.
