Getting Actual GC from Employer

Hi,

So we already got our visa stamp. We also entered Guam and got a introduction in the port of entry(?) and got our passports stamped. We got our SSN as well. They gave us a note that our actual GC will be mailed to my wife's employer in mainland - but the stamp on our passport is proof that we are GC holders ( validity of stamp is 1 year).

Now we are still waiting to go in US because they still can't find a hospital for my wife. Is it possible for me to apply on my own for work (my work is diff) - but as in our case I don't really have my physical GC with me. Am I allowed to enter US on my own? Just thinking if get questioned on port of entry because I don't have my GC (only that passport stamp).

Greencard as stamp in the passport is valid for entry into the US and for work purpose. You don't need plastic green card for that.
