Hello,
My priority date is not current but I want to correct my birth certificate.
My birth certificate does not list my parents last name. BC has my full first and last name as it is in my passport. I asked my parents to sigh an affidavit that includes the corrections. My parents are estranged from me and said that they will not sign the affidavit. I submitted an application to the local city office and they did not add my parents last name as in my pass port. None of the state issued documents in their name lists their full last name. My passport lists their last name. They do not have a passport. So I understand why the city is unwilling to add their last name. My siblings and grandparents side with my parents as well. So no luck getting the affidavit from them as well.
I checked with the attorney and he keeps sending me the travel state link that lists the BC requirements and suggests getting affidavit from Parents.
What options do I have? Has this happened to anyone else? Can a family friend or an uncle attest for me? Please do not give any suggestion like talk to your parents, you have no idea!! I have tried that for the last 5 years.
