How much time left for me to file GC ??

Hello -
My H1B Visa tenure of 6 years completes on 4-Jan-2018, which is few more than 365 days.
I have delayed in starting the process of Green Card based on my employment. I wanted to know how soon should my employer file for my GC, so I can continue to extend my H1B Visa beyond the expiry date.

Let's work this backwards

To get a H extension, your approveable-when-filed Form I-485 has to be pending 180 days

Before that, the labor certification Form ETA 9089 has to be approved by the Department of Labor. They take six months if the filing isn't picked for audit

Before that, the labor certification steps have to be taken. That takes 4 to 6 months, depending if a Prevailing Wage Determination was obtained in advance
