Green Card Process

I intend to initiate Green Card Processing through my company under the EB1 category. I am currently based in India with the company and will use consular processing for the Green Card. I want to know

1. How long does it take on an average for the the I-140 petition to be approved?
2. Once the I 140 is approved, will I need to apply for Permanent Residency through the US Embassy in New Delhi, India? How long is this process on an average?
3. What is the I 485 and how long does it take?

Any help from you would be much appreciated. I am trying to get an understanding of the complete process and associated timelines.

Processing timings vary all the time and it is diffcult to say anything for sure. It will easily take several years.

It is an alternative to consular processing for people who are already in the US.
