Every country has a fixed number of allotted green cards. Why is it that only India and China have such severe retrogressions? These are the 2 countries whose economies are doing extremely well with a lot of job growth. In such a scenario, one would expect only these two countries to be current and all other countries to have a backlog since citizens of other countries would be rushing to the US for employment. Then why is it that only these 2 countries have a retrogression in almost every EB category?

That is because each country has same quota, whether they are huge countries like India or China, or tiny islands like Bahamas.
If 2000 people can from Bahamas, only 2000 can come from India as well. As population of India/China is so much more, there is a big backlog for those countries.Immihelp Support

2000 is just an example. That is not a real number.
Every country has same quota. Obviously India's population is much more than any other country (except China which is in same situation).Immihelp Support
