I'm new to the whole GC process and was entirely shocked on hearing about 'Retrogression'. My first H1-B was in effect Oct 1, 2005 and right now I'm thinking of applying for a GC through my current employer.
Initial questions are:
1) Speculation aside, is there any view that dates will be current soon giving later applicants hope? In terms of increasing manpower at UCIS or whereever to get done with all the backlogs and so? I guess, I mean to ask if there's any new bill thats waiting to pass to speed up the process.
2) After 7th yr extn for H1-B gets done with, what is my option? Can I stay in the US while my GC is being processed? Or should I go back to India? What options do I have?
Any response is appreciated.
