  • Fired after EAD receipt, but 140 not approved yet

Can someone help me in the following scenario:

I am from Bulgaria and work in the IT field as a QA.

    1. My employer started a Green Card process 4 years ago.
    2. Passed Labor Certification.
    3. I-140 and I-1485 submitted together in June 2007.
    4. Received EAD cards for both me and my wife in September 2007.
    5. Received Advanced Parole document in September 2007.
    6. Provided fingerprints in October 2007.

At that moment the employer started firing people, and my turn came in March 2008 with about 30% of the staff.

The Employer promised me (verbally) that they will not withdraw the I-140, but I am not sure if this helps at all, and what exactly means.

My question is - If I find a new job, can I transfer the process to the new employer without risk of loosing everything and starting from scratch?
