  • Is I-140 location dependant?

I moved from CA to NY (different states), but in the same company after my I-140 got approved in CA. Now, if I want to apply for 485, do I have to go back to the same location (same company) in CA or can I go to another location in CA (same company). Also, can I go to any other company in CA and get my 485 filed? I heard some one saying I have to go back to the same exact location (infact same county) to apply for 485. Please help!

    Thanks
    Dsiva

I am really sorry. My only intent was to get the answer fast as I have to look for a requisiton in my previous job opening and transfer before the priority dates retrogress again. I thought different people will look different forums and some one should be knowing the answer.

GC can be for future employment and filed accordingly. You cannot join another company and use that I140. There are ways around how this can be handled. Talk to a lawyer or your company HR.
