Green Card approved before PD is current

I got my GC approved and recieved it in mail, but my PD is not yet current. Is this an error on USCIS part? Do I need to surrender it?

Possibly an error. I have seen an online post about USCIS coming back and taking the GC back on that. Make sure you search for it and discuss with your lawyer as to what the best approach is.
