I apologize in advance if this issue was already discussed and will appreciate if someone can point me to the right post. I looked around before posting but did not find a similar post with my question.
I have an approved I-140 and have been working on an EAD from last few years. My GC was filed in EB3 category with the priority date of Dec 2005.
Recently, I changed jobs and my new employer is willing to start a fresh GC process in the EB2 category. He mentioned that once it clears Labor and I-140, I can switch to my original (Dec 2005) priority date for this new application. With the ongoing Jan 2005 priority date for EB2, this obviously means that my GC can come soon (hopefully!!). However, I want to understand from the experts on this website about the pros and cons of taking this approach.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated.
