I had my interview scheduled today at the Los Angeles field office at 1pm.
I got there around 12:30pm with my husband, passed the security and checked in at the window by 12:45pm and waited until 1:30pm until the officer called us into the room.
The officer asked if our attorney was present, which I answered no. He asked if we would still like to continue the interview without the attorney and I said yes. He made both me and my husband sign the waiver form to continue the interview.
First, he opened up my file and said "your employer has a green score so this will be easy and quick" then he proceeded to read out all the information on my application form and asked if it is right which I answered yes to everything. He then asked about 5-6 "have you ever" questions then I had to sign on my application form. Then the officer told my husband that it is now his turn and he will get asked the exact same questions which he needs to answer just like I did. Again, the officer read everything on the application form and asked "have you ever" questions.
He then immediately said "I am going to approve your case. Do you have any questions?"
We were confused because our attorney said we would be asked questions about my job and our marriage and we had prepared so many documents. We haven't been married for very long so we expected some marriage-related questions but he did not ask any. The officer did not even ask me about my job. So I asked him "my lawyer had told me that you would need updated tax returns from my employer. Would you like a copy of that?" He said "No it is not necessary it is already approved" and we got our approval letter on the spot. This was about 2pm. Then the online case status changed around 3pm to "new card is being produced."
I would be happy to answer any questions and wish good luck to everyone going through the process.
