Birth Certificate.. Plzz Help me on it

Hi ppl,
I am new here. Good to be member of this forum. I have an issue with Birth Certificate. May be some of you know how to deal with it.
First of all, me and my wife's birth's are not registered. So we got an unavailability certificate from the municipal office. What other documents are required along with this?
As per secondary evidence for BC, I think we can submit school records. Isn't it? My wife's name in her school records is not same as in passport. May be I should rather say, names are same but representation is not same. I mean to say in her school records, its as <Initial> <firstname> whereas in passport its full name i.e., <Lastname> <Firstname>. In her school records she has only her Initial rather than her full last name. Will there be any issue? If at all, What you ppl propose me to do.
I have an other question. How old has to be these school records?

Pls help Birth certificate for Green card - Date difference

Hi
I was born in 1967. I got my birthcertificate for filing Green card. But the govt records regd my birth date as 24 th whereas all my records passport, school certificates are mentioned as 23rd ( One day difference due to mid night time ).. Now govt is refusing to change the date.

How can I provide a birth certificate or an alternative to Green card process.
Please suggest some options
