I485 & H1 Extension

My I-485 is in pending state (filed in Feb 2010) & prority dates are Current & got my EAD in March2010. (I got RFE last week & my attorney is going to send the response in this week.)
I have below questions can someone please assist me.
1) My 6 years on H1 is going to complet in 2nd week of July (2010) do i need to file for H1?
2) My Attorney is saying that If USCIS recieved my H1 application in 1st week or even in 2nd week i have the basis on pending I485 pending to stay here &
it will not impact anything. Is this True?
3) High level how much time it takes to get the application approved after the RFE reponse.
4) If my attorney fail to file my H1 am i safe?

EAD - Is authorization to Work. You say you already have your EAD.

I do not understand why you still need continue to file a H1?

This is what I know, am I missing something ?

Or is your question of "What IF if you 485 gets rejected' ?
