Switching jobs after I-140 is approved from cap exempt employer to non exempt

Hi all,

I would like to ask if switching a job from a university to a for-profit organization is possible once I-140 is approved? If the university files the I-140 for an employee on a cap exempt h1b, upon approval, is the employee still limited to only cap exempt jobs?

As long as you have a valid H1 you may be able to get a new job at a company who will process the transfer of your visa. I140 does not help here as it may get withdrawn by the university if you change job in less than 6 months after its approval.
