Green Card Job Advertisements and Other Requirements

Hi,

My company is not doing green card processing for me But they say that I can start the process on my own and they can help me providing the details.
It is a big organization but they don't want to file it on their own.

I need to know what is the job advertisements requirement to start the GC processing. Is it a mandatory requirement to post the Advertisements in local news papers or job sites??
How can I go forward and what are the hurdles/steps if I need to file the GC on my own.

Correcting the Question

I think I need to correct my question. My company doesn't want to process the green card for me and not willing to post the add in the newspapers.

So my question is, is it mandatory to post the add in the newspapers to go further, Or without that also we can proceed? As far as I know We can't but just wanted to have an expert advise.
