  • Green card lost by united states postal office

I applied for my GREEN CARD REPLACEMENT; had a long overdrawn court case, long story short, I got my Green card back in status and my lawyer sent in all necessary paperwork for my 10 year GREEN CARD REPLACEMENT- AMEN! All good, until Immigration office sent status that was delivered and it indeed was never delivered! , when OK, so another long story shorter - this all transpired in 2021 - I had to reapply in 2023 and here I am still waiting - they say processing time is up until 2025! WTF - why am I sent to the back of the line to wait again if they already DELIVERED IT - so they falsely claim (b/c nothing adds up). I wrote to the so called OMBUDSMAN who simply stated time for processing is the normal wait time (from 2021 Submission - Lost and then reapplied in 2023 and it is 04 / 2024) How can that be a normal processing time for a GREEN CARD REPLACMENT? If it was lost - it means it is IN STATUS and they have all the old paperwork that they say stated would apply ) I wrote to two of my Senators...and still waiting and need to travel but will not dare leave the country without my actual GREEN CARD in hand - heck how can I take a chance when I applied in 2021 for replacement and they lost it and I"m still waiting! What is wrong with these government / state agencies playing recklessly with people's lives?? Too much time being spent with illegals I guess! We live here, raise our family here, pay taxes here and i'm sent to the back of the processing waiting time b/c they are busy in EAGLE PASS TEXAS processing border crossing folks...WT Heck is wrong with the USA! I am so fed up, but would never abandon the USA -as it's where my family is...so I am here waiting nearly 3 1/5 years for a simple GC replacement card...anyone have any suggestions, aside from the usual call post office and track and etc..been there done that.....they closed that case out already.....and I"m on the new one which is, as I stated, they say NORMAL PROCESSING TIMES...LOL.....sorry to be so long winded...but OMG this is beyond frustrating...they printed, processed and now I'm waiting for new card this long...really sounds like a scam going...getting innocent folks to keep paying additional processing fees to immigration offices.....how can the UNITED STATES POST OFFICE get away with losing so many documents...as I hear this happens very frequently - it sounds like a racket where they joined hands to screw people over on fees....just my thoughts after having my hands tied...like I did something wrong b/c they lost my documents, they supposedly sent! I wrote to TWO SENATORS and sent letter to OMBUDSMAN...BS, nada...nothing...just still waiting twiddling my thumbs........TIA for any insight anyone can offer me based on their own experience....Best of luck to all in distress over any immigration issue....this appears to be racket system of some sort...
FYI: CAPS for me does not indicate SCREAMING. (I am.just making a point, as most know, the SYSTEM is SCREWED UP and UNFAIR! Again -.not screaming at all!

Stop screaming. If you have a pending I-90 application and don't have the card, you should be able to call USCIS to get an I-551 stamp at any time. So it shouldn't matter how long the I-90 application takes.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

OF COURSE IT MATTERS how long you are waiting when it was issued already 2 years ago, my entire point is questioning why I'm still waiting if they already sent it out one time and NO you cannot call.......Do you have a number that takes calls? Their automated leads you to hold for hours and is a joke; you have to request to be called b/c as I stated, they tell you DO NOT CONTACT them if your processing time is within their stated waiting limits...2025 for GREEN CARD processing...LOL.....not shouting but making my point, as the suggestion posted was not based on valid experience.

Like I said, you can call them to get an I-551 stamp on Day 1 of your I-90 being pending. It does not matter if is "within processing times" or not. You are probably misunderstanding me in thinking that I mean to call them to complain about the application taking too long. That is not what I mean. I mean to call them for an I-551 stamp, either in person at a local office, or sent to you by mail, as temporary proof of permanent residency.

You can get an I-551 stamp as soon as your I-90 is pending, and if the I-551 stamp is nearing expiration, you can get another I-551 stamp, indefinitely, as long as your I-90 is pending. So no, it does not matter how long the I-90 takes, because you can get and continue to get proof of permanent resident status in the meantime. An I-551 stamp can be used for any purpose that the plastic green card (which is also an I-551 document) can be used for.

I understand about the 551 Stamp; all good with that - my ENTIRE post is only about obtaining my already processed GREEN CARD...if it was already sent and lost in the mail, why am I still waiting for it 2 1/2 years later! I have the 551 Stamp, and would not dare take a chance to travel without my actual Green Card in hand...are you kidding me, they can't get a mailing straight and you think I would trust leaving the country and risk losing being here for my family....I guess, you are not in that position and just thinking it's easy to deal with the BS - it's insane! Nevertheless, thanks for your advise and insights! Much appreciated
