Hello,
Me and my family received green card in 2021 with validity till 2031. My elder son turned 14 years old in Feb 2025 and I just got to know that his green card needs to be renewed (even if expiry date is till 2031) after 14 years of age. USCIS website mentions that the I-90 form should be submitted within 30 days. I submitted the form I-90 after 30 days had passed. I have the following questions if someone could help.
1. I have already planned to travel to India for 1.5 months around mid-May 2025. Would there be any issues during return if the biometrics for I-90 do not get completed before we travel?
2. Would there be any issues during return if the biometrics are completed before we travel but the new card is not received (very doubtful that the card will get processed within that short span)
3. Does the current card still remain valid for travel if my son turned 14? Some threads seemed to suggest that the old card no longer remains valid.
If anyone has travelled recently with similar situation without renewing green card of 14 year old, please share the experiences.
