I have a BS in Chemical Engineering (Venezuela) with a MS in Environmental Engineering (USA).
I've been working in USA for 3 years for a environmental consulting company. I was hired in 2008 as a Environmental Engineer I. Before I worked for 6 months on a smaller company with a similar position.
The main requirements for my current job position at the time I was hired were:
- BS
- Knowledge of environmental compliance...
- No experience required
- MS (preferred but not required)
I understand the EB category has nothing to do with my actual qualifications but rather with the job position requirements. My questions are the following:
1) The EB category is determined by the position requirements at the time of hire (in 2008), or as of today (considering I've grown within the company and I am now an Environmental Engineer II and soon enough III)? Obviously, to replace me, they would need someone with experience, and perhaps someone with a MS required (not just preferred).
2) Can the company do something like a re-hire to change the requirements of my position and be able to file my application as a EB2?
3) What is the processing time difference between EB2 and EB3 (I am from Venezuela).
