Green card through 2 employers?

Hi Experts,
I have a doubt about green card application.
Is it possible and legitimate that you apply for a GC through 2 employers at the same time?
First being your current employer, Company A and second through a consultancy company B?
The reason being in today's immigration proceedings generally company A starts to take advantage of your situation and you feel tied up and helpless
Any help will be much appreciated.
