    Birth certificate - GC

    I am in the process of producing a birth certificate from india for my green card. I have a problem here.
    I have my step-mother's name in my passport but the birth certificate i obtained has my mothers name. What should i do now?
    1. Do I have to change the mothers name on the passport?
    2. Can i provide some sort of written affidavit ?

    Please advice.
