Employment Sponsored Green Card and Marraige

My fiance's company is currently sponsoring his green card application and the whole green card process. I am a US citizen and he is a UK citizen that has been working in the US for a number of years. How would it affect the process if we got married? Would he be required to apply for a marriage based green card instead? Once the application is in should it be changed? Which one is quicker?

Once you get married, he does not have to change his green card processing.

However, the greencard based on the marriage to U.S. citizen is the fastest. Therefore, he should consider changing to family based green card.
