  • Young Couple Seeking to File Soon!!!

    Hey everybody!

My name is Laila, I'm currently a hardworking student, as is my Japanese fiance who has been studying here in the US for two years. We've known each other for about three years and have been together for over one, engaged for about four months. We were planning to wait until we were both graduated to get married, so about three years, but he is a year ahead of me and if he is unable to find a job there is a risk he will be deported. This will create MAJOR issues with my parents...that's not relevant information. We'll deal with that on our own haha.

What I'm really not sure about is how to begin filing. I don't meet the minimum yearly income requirement so I would need one of my parents to joint file the petition. He would also need to be able to work here in the US and if possible have freedom to leave and re enter whenever we both please. What I need to know is what are ALL of the forms we need to file, information, photos, etc that we need to have and how much time are we looking at? Anyone who can help I would appreciate so much! We cannot afford a lawyer at this point. Thank you

Are you a US Citizen, 18 yrs or older ? If so you can file a K-1 visa petition for your fiance. See here: https://www.immihelp.com/usa-visas/kvisa/
