Docuement in lieu of Birth certificate

Hi,

I am planning start Green card process for my relatativeh.
He is old person and does not have Birth certificate in India.

can some one advise if Any alternative document/Affidevit can serve the purpose.

You may submit two affidavits from your relatives, preferably senior than your relative for whom you are planning to file a petition confirming their date of birth and how they know him/her.

Letter of Certification

In the case of my wife, we were issued a letter of certification from the District Office where she was born. Her family had lost the original birth certificate and the District Office had also lost their copy (and seeing the office, I wasn't surprised).

The letter laid out the specifics of the request, the intended purpose of the document, and stated that based on examination of the applicant and other witnesses, and related documentary evidence, it was believed that <applicant> was born in such-and-such place on such-and-such date.

Do we need affidavit from two different relatives? Or two copies of the same affidavit from a single relative.

What happens if none of the relatives are alive?

My old Mom has no relatives alive that can do the affidavit for her.

You have to submit two affidavits from two different persons ,if possible from your relatives or from any family friend.

The affidavt must have the Name, date and place of birth ,age and detail weather he/she is a relative or family friend or well known person who is giving affidavit and details of how he come to know about your mothers birth.
I also have submitted affidavits for my wife in NVC in 2009 and the have accepted it.
