Hi,
I am filing for my Mom's Greencard. She does not have a birth certificate. Officials in Mumbai have given a letter to the extent that the birth certificate cannot be found. She was born in 1948.
We would like to get an affidavit from a close relative. But none is alive. Everybody older than her, younger than her has just passed away.
What do we do in this situation? Who can give her the affidavit? Can some people who are like neighbours and close family friends ad who know when she was born give such an affidavit. The format of the letter seem to indicate that it has to be close relative.
What other documents are needed if birth certificate is not there?
Can someone please help me? No lawyers around during this time of the year and Mom needs to travel around New year.
