Administrative Processing Completed, But...

Hello everyone, This is my first post/thread here.

I'm not going to explain in long/boring details, but if have any questions about
what I'm gonna say, Just ask ..

My father is an american citizen, I applied for an Immigration visa, Got my interview date (8/3/2012),
Completed all the required documents, Went to the interview, And then my case went in
A.P. for 10 Months, Until few days ago, I got a call from the embassy telling me that The A.P.
is completed and that They're ready to stamp my visa, I just need to send my passport and Certificate of Criminal/Police Record And Medical Exam...

He said specifically, that if I intend to travel before 20/2/2013, I should just have a TB TEST and not a whole Medical Exam...
If I intend to travel after 20/2/13, I should send a full new Medical Exam...

unfortunately I didn't ask why exactly 20/2, But what I concluded is that my medical exam date (according to the Vaccination Worksheet) was 27/2/2012 and it's only valid for 1 year....

But when I called to get an appointment for a medical exam, I asked if I can only take The TB TEST, But the lady told me that my medical exam is expired since it's valid for only 6 months not 1 year, so right now I don't know what should be done in this matter, I got 2 different answers...

So should I just ignore what she said and just take the TB TEST and send it Or should I take a full Exam and still travel before 20/2, Just in case??

If anyone can give me an answer, it would be much appreciated... Thanks in advance and sorry if it was too long...

I know medicals expire after 6 months but I've also heard of this 1 year thing too.

My advice is email the immigrant visa (IV) unit of the consulate in Egypt, inform them of what the medical officer told you and ask what exactly should you do. OR. Just do over the medical if you have the money. If you redo your medical you are unlikely to be vaccinated again; you'd pretty much just be doing the TB test, physical and maybe the blood work up (if you smoked weed in the past year you may want to go with option 1 first).

Thanks aaydrian for you reply, If I may, I have another question if you please can help... I'm currently in college here in egypt and I want to finish this college year before trying transferring to another college in the U.S. ... anyway the problem is the visa expiration date won't be that long, so I am going to have to travel and then come back to egypt just to finish this year, so how long do you think I should stay there before returning to egypt? (Like the steps taken...) Or can I just get my passport stamped upon arrival (I read somewhere it's a 1-year temp. Green Card) then do whatever the process is and then just headback to egypt to finish this college year?
Or should I wait till the green card arrives in mail?

There's much I can say and information to cover that I'll just point you in the right direction.

Read up on these:
1) Re-entry permit for legal permanent residence.
2) Returning residents visa
3) Temporary greencard, I -551.
4) How to loose LPR status/greencard.

Things to keep in mind:
-Immigrant visas are valid for as long as the medical.
-Greencards take about 4 weeks to arrive in the mail (after you enter the US).

My OPINION is if you got the cash, redo your medical. Why? You extend your visa validity to about July. That way you can put in your college transfer request and go to America by the time school is out for summer break.

You can finish your degree in Egypt but you would need a reentry permit. If you are gonna do that weigh the pros and cons of an Egyptian degree in the US vs a US degree in the US vs the value of either degree globally (in case the US/Egypt isn't your only sphere for potential job opportunities).

A part from emailing the consulate about what you need to do in regards to your medical you also need to ensure by asking them how do you know when your visa expires.
