We are hainvg problems with I-864, should I hire a lawyer?

My husband just finished filing taxes for the last three years, and just got his tax lien resolved after 2012 returns. He also recently lost his job, and he is a full time student at a local college. His grandma, who receives pension, has agreed to be the joint sponsor. We know she makes more than the 125% of the poverty line. I did talk to a lawyer in Chicago, and he is asking 3500 + filling fees. I do not have anything to compare, regarding the price. I do have most of the forms (every other form but I864) filled out, and prepared most of supporting doc. According to him, we might need more evident for the marriage. I would really like to know whether the price is reasonable? or I can actually do everything myself, consider my husband's financial problem.
