I got married recently with an american citizen, and we're applying for K3 visa thru Direct filing at the embassy. My husband went back to the US already. Last week I had my final interview, however they saw a red flag on the screen and they had to do fingerprinting (all 10 fingers) and they'll send it to the fbi. I'm worry because I was at the US studying my undergraduate and I got into a little trouble. I got arrested but the charges was later dismissed/dropped. So I was never convicted or anything. Is this the reason why they had send my finger print to the fbi???? is this bad??? how bad is it???? they say it'll take approx. 1 month for the result to come back, and then they'll call me back. I'm really scare and nervous, can anybody tell me what is exactly they check for finger printing ?????

No reply, so I guess this never happened to anybody. FOr those who know please don't hesitate to replly, I really don't know what to expect from the embassy and it's been almost a month and I haven't heard anytrhing from them just yet. So i'm starting to get realyyyyyy worry. So if you ever experience anything like this let me know, so I kinda know what to expect thanks...

FBI background checks are VERY common in the immigration process. I cannot give you a definitive answer on what precisely they are checking, but generally I think they try to determine if you have a criminal background.
Don't know what to tell you about your previous charges being dropped. Good luck.
