Need Help Sponsership

I'm a US citizen. My mom and dad are getting older (just turned 62) and I've been thinking about getting them a green card and bringing them to permanently stay with me.

I'm wondering how many years they will need be in U.S. to be eligible for any social security benefits at all. Is there a minimum amount that senior citizens past a certain age will receive no matter how many years they have worked here?

If they have not contributed anything to the system, they don't get anything no matter how much time passes.
