Fellow GC applicants,
I need some direction on this particular issue.
I am on H1-B and recently got married to an US Citizen. We have been living together for over 1 year and decided to take the plunge. I am looking to file for my Green Card. I believe my spouse will file for I-130 for me to start the process. Now, one of the requirements in the GC process is a birth certificate. I could locate the birth certificate in my local municipality, but back in the days, they never filled in the name. So, there is a '-' in place of my name. Also, the language of the certificate Hindi and the name has initials of my parents name instead of the full name. For example Ram Kumar Sharma is written as R.K Sharma. I am sure some of you would have faced the same situation. Both my parents are dead and its not easy to get hold of my relatives. Should I ask some of family friends give an affidavit in place relatives? Any particular format? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
