Hi everyone, I'm new here so please bear with me! I'm a US citizen and my husband is from India. We were married on April 9, 2013 in India and I came back to the US on April 18 while he stayed in India. I compiled our documents and submitted our I-130 on April 29th. I received a letter on May 7th stating our application was received and accepted on May 3rd. I was so excited but it seems the process has just stopped. I've checked it a couple of times a week for the past couple of months and it says it's in initial review. I know it hasn't been that long, but I'm kind of concerned. I know I'm a huge worrier, but I just have a strange feeling and I really want my husband here lol!! I was wondering if anyone else has submitted their I-130 around the same time and what their status is at the moment?

hello IDsingh
dont worry. At this time(if i am not wrong) the average time is 3-5 months for i130. After you receive a receipt, you will not hear from them for some time. Its totally normal. If you do not have any status updates by mid Aug then you should start contacting people. My husband who is a US citizen just submitted my i130 as well ( It was fedexed on July 5th) and i dont expect to hear anything before end of Oct. Anything before that would be awesome.

Hi,
I am a GC holder and filed I 130 for my wife and daughter (as they were in India when I processed I 485) in Feb' 2013 and it is still showing Initial review and it's more than 5 months. So, don't be panic and it is very usual.
Whom I should contact as it is over 5 months now? Please share if you have more info.

Update on I-130
I have been checking our status like crazy and I noticed that when I was checking the processing times for the Vermont center it doesn't have a time period like 4-6 months, it says October 22, 2012. I'm not 100% sure what that means, can someone explain it to me?

Don't worry it takes about 6 to 8 months . I am in the same boat . It has been about 5 months for me and its still in initial review . All it says for me is that my alien registration number was changed on May 31st and I haven't heard from them since.

Around 5 and half month, file was transfer to NVC. BMB no and ds2032 choice of adress form comes. I would check with nvc to see if they received file from uscis. Total process is 11 months to year if you count delays in paperworks. I filed in november 10 12 and my inlaws will get visa in sometime oct( delay of 3 weeks in paperwork).

That means uscis reciept number usually start with EAC*12345666 then file move to NVC. You are asign BMB for bombay consulate or MNL for manilla or whatever consulate you will give interview. This number start with consulate is your immigrant visa petition number not your Alien registration number.

A Ranson Question
It's been a little over 4 months now since we've filed our I-130 and I was just thinking that I changed my name on everything I possibly can, but when we filed I used my previous name. Is this going to be an issue? Should I call the customer care people and ley them know?
