  • I864 filing by joint sponsor

Hello there guys, I am helping my in-laws to file sponsorship paper for her unmarried son in law.
    1. They have low income, so we had to get a joint sponsor.
    2. My in laws have filed i864 and i864a, there was no error in the form... the checklist came out clean for this 2 file.

    3. for the joint sponsor it came out as:
Form i864 in Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment, please correct the following...
[x] Items 13.a.1. The income you enter must match the total (gross) income reported on your most recent Federal income tax return. If you filed Form 1040EZ, use the adjusted gross income instead.

We did make sure that it was the right amount, indicated in the w2.
I don't understand what must be written there?

the amount that we put in was 50,224. which is the exact amount on w2. and this is above 125% poverty line.
we did the same thing for 13b,13c of part 6 there was no error....

what should we put down there? put down the income of the whole family? i

Call the help number on the checklist, the nvc service representative will explain to you what the issue is.

i864 filing for parents by joint sponsor part 3

        Hi there,
I am filing AOS i864 form for my both parents. Since I don't have sufficient income my wife is my joint sponsor. I have gone through all the links on website but unable to get right answer. AOS instructions aren't clear either. Since my wife is my joint sponsor, would I check on 1.a) I am the Petitioner. I filed or am filing for the immigration of my relative. OR 1.e) I am the first (check on first and have my wife check on Second of two joint sponsor on separate i864. Alo I am stuck at part 3 where it asks "I am sponsoring the principal immigrant named in PART 2 Yes or NO (Applicable only in cases with two joint sponsors) My Question is, Since my wife is my joint sponsor would I check on NO ? or YES ? Any ideas Any help would be appreciated

        Thanks in Advance

The want your taxable income not your wages on your W-2, and if you filed taxes jointly and your spouse did not fill out an I-184A then that could be the problem., since your taxes would list the spouse and yours, but you only wrote yours.
I have known some who had wages of 56,000, but since they had so many deductions their taxalbe income was only 5,600, they did not qualify (they were a driver and were issued a 1099) my point being it is not your wages, it is your taxalbe income they are concerened with since that is all that is available to support the immigrant.
