  • I-130 Initial Review Processing Time???

    Hi all,

I filed the I-130 for my husband at the beginning of the year (2013). *I am a permanent resident so I know the processing times may be different that if I was a U.S. citizen.

My priority date is March 11, 2013 - this month (August) the F2A category became current

I received the I-797C a few weeks after I filed the I-130 in March 2013.

My profile shows it is still in the Initial Review Stage.
My online case says "on August 15th, 2013 The Alien Registration Number was changed..."

How much longer will it take for a decision to be made? and for the I-797 Notice of Approval to be received?
I don't want to miss out on the amazing opportunity that our priority date is current (something we didn't expect until 2015).

    Thank you in advance!

How long did it have for it to change from initial review (Feb 4th) to decision?
I know the average is about 6 months for the decision to be made from when initial review started but I'm getting anxious.

      Thanks for your response

I filed the I-130 along with the I-485 on Feb. 12, it was received by the 14th, and I think it changed to Initial Review right away because they had to send me a receipt.

Thank you for your answer. It gives us hope that maybe we will have a decision in the upcoming weeks.
Are you a US Citizen or a Greencard Holder. I believe the process is slower for GC Holder. It's been six months for us and it looks like yours took around the same time.

            Thanks!

                  I-130 processing time.

This is the link that gives you the processing times for I-130 petitions for different people (Permanent Residents, Citizens, etc...):

Immihelp.com - Comprehensive information on green card, Visitors Visa, H1 Visa, Student Visa, other visas and visitors medical insurance, newcomer to USA

I am a Permanent Resident, and I filed the petition for my spouse who lives overseas, in Feb 2013. My petition is being processed in California. As of today, they are processing petitions files in November 2011 (dates vary based on the service center). Vermont (for the lucky ones who live up north) has a much shorter processing time.

This next link allows you to track your case number:

At the bottom of the page, you can get the estimated time for your petition. As of today, for California, I-130 filed for the spouse of a Permanent Resident is taking almost 21 months. The National Goal is 5 months. The current processing time at the California Service Center is a total disgrace.

I have watched this processing time increase from 18 months in July, to 19 months in August, 20 months in September, and now almost 21 months. It is as if nothing was processed in the past 4 months. And as far as the priority date, it only affects people who are already here, on work visa, or other legal means. It is very discouraging for people whose spouse and young children are overseas.

For those who are interested, this is the link with the priority dates:
