filing for foreign spouse with a permanent resident

Pls help and advise me. My yusband husband has been a permanent resident since 2002. Now he needs to file for me to get my green card so I can attend my ssisters w wedding in january outside the country. However, his date to swear in as a citizen Is on the the 17th of this month october. Now the issue im having is tht should we file with his permanent residency status or wait till he becomes a citizen in two weeks? Im running out of time.
Also, if we turn it in with his permanent residency status do we have to update uscis abt thw the change of status or they automatically know?

Please your thoughts and comments would be very helpful. .I plan on submitting it today.

I would wait untill citizenship. Getting visa by january is looking difficult because it takes about 6 to 8 months for visa process to be completed. Filing on greencard based catagory is 1 year to 2 year wait time. Ir1 is quickest good luck.
