  • Return ticket on immigrant visa

I will be travelling with my parents in the last week of Jan on F4 family based immigrant visa as the expiry date is 30th Jan. My parents want to come back in Feb to complete some pending work here and would return again in August.

    1) Would it be a problem at the port of entry if my parents take a return ticket (return ticket is cheaper than two one-way tickets )?

    2) Will they be questioned when they return back as to why they remaines in US for only a month? Should they get a re-entry permit before leaving US?

While you're right that LPRs ought to have roundtrip tickets originating and ending in the US to be safe, new immigrants often go back very soon after landing in order to tie up loose ends. Immigration know this, and it shouldn't be a problem.

I m leaving for USA in last week of november. I will be back in 3 weeks coz of my studies. My parents will be staying and i have bought a return ticket. I dont think it should be much of a problem.
