Green Card From Father to Son

Hello Everyone

i am Green card holder and i am planing to apply for Green Card for my single son
As far as i know i can apply for him if he is single

Right now he is single but he is 28 years old And i am going to go ahead and apply for him
but since it is going to take a while before he get approved what happen if he got married during this time?

If your son marries while waiting for his visa slot, he is no longer eligible to use that visa, if you are still a Green Card holder.

There are two subsequent steps you should follow:

1. Report his marriage to the National Visa Center, if his case has been moved to the National Visa Center to await a visa slot.
2. Get U.S. citizenship and report your change of status to the National Visa Center to allow son's petition status to change son's status to F3.

Encourage son to remain single, as there is a significant longer waiting period for "married child of U.S. citizen" to be eligible for a visa.

Whatever you do, do not even consider allowing a married son to come to the U.S. on a "single status" visa.

Years later when applying for Naturalization, inappropriate visa entry ("single" visa if married) can come back to haunt your son, with deportation adjudication following.
