  • my ex wife who because of her i got a green card now gonna remarry any effects on me?

    Hello,

I was married ( bonafide) for little over 2 years but my ex wife did a semester in broad met a guy asked me for divorce and now she want to get marry to the guy she met.
The guy moved here now and its less than a year since we got a divorce and she want to marry him now and file for him so he can stay here legal.
They did meet while we were married but after all paper work was filled and i was in the process to get my permanent green card ( which i got).

Is the fact shes gonna marry this guy might effect me in any way??
she recently contacted me to tell me that and ask some papers for me.
    shell i be worried?

If you have your 10-year Green Card, your ex-wife's remarriage won't affect your status.

But you cannot petition a new wife until at least five years have passed since your Green Card was first issued (based on marriage to a U.S. citizen wife).

Thank you very much for the quick respond.

One more question, in my ex attempt to ask me for my old paperwork ( which i don't want to give her - she cheated on me and now im suppose to help?? ) she's telling me that if i won't bring her the docs the immigration will re-open our case and look into and might call me for i don't what, is it real?
not that i have something to hide but just the thought of dealing with immigration again and lawyers and forms give me headache.

Why does your ex-wife want your paperwork?

immigration repen the case? possible but doubtful it would sound like a mad ex to the USCIS even if she did complain, best to not give it to her and move on with your life. even if you did not get your 10 year green card, and you divorced you can still self petition yourself just prove that you enter into the marriage in good faith. so keep evidence of her cheating or at least a log of the time she left, where she went and the other guys name, just incase,
