Car Insurance and Suspended License

Hello guys,

So here is the situation, I am a foreign citizen having an international drivers license. I am presently in USA and married to a US citizen and filed for my green card. Recently I bought a car and my wife also uses the car. However, her drivers license is suspended for 5 years and still 4 more year to go to get it unsuspended. Though she drives the car as the distance between the house and her work place is like a couple of miles and its not a main road.

So, she doesn't have an insurance and she has a suspended license. I currently do not have a US Drivers license so I have got the insurance for my international drivers license.

I am aware that she will be getting high penalty if she caught driving suspended license. And I want to know what will happen to the car if she caught driving without both insurance and drivers license ? Do they revoke the car registration or they take the car into custody or anything else ?

As I am a foreign citizen, I do not know what is the law regarding this here. Anyone know what will happen to the car ? Is my insurance is good for the car driving a different person who doesn't have an insurance?

The car registration won't be revoked, but the car may be impounded if she is caught driving under her present license suspension. If the car is impounded, it could get very expensive for you to get it released.

Also, your international driver license is not usually recognized for the duration of your F1 visa. The rules for this vary by state, so you might have to consider getting a valid driver's license issued by your current state of residency.

I suspect u a Nigerian. Let her stay away from driving it's going to affect u and ur application might be delayed if she get caught before intervie
