Green card holder filing for spouse

Hello.....If a green card holder files a petition for a spouse who is already in the US legally at what stage will they give the spouse work permit, social security number etc.

After the spouse's visa priority data has been reached, the Green Card petitioner can submit an Adjustment of Status package with the I-765, Employment Authorization application. About 3 months after submittal, the spouse will be eligible for an SSN and to legally work.
