Greencard application while on F-1

I am currently on student visa and re-entered the country in January 3rd week after winter holiday. I have now decided to marry an USC. Would I have to wait for a few weeks before I can proceed with civil marriage and green card application? Also, does there have to be any time lag BETWEEN civil marriage and green card application?

Soon as you are married, you can submit I-130 and I-485, with supporting documents, to convert your F1 status to CR-1 status and Green Card.
