  • Filling I-485, no current visa in passport

I recently got married to a US citizen and I am filing my I-485.
Problem is: I do not have a currently valid visa in my passport.

I am working in the US with a H1B visa, my visa expired in November. In the meantime, my company applied for a visa extension and I got my I-797 approved in time (before my visa expired) but I did not leave the country since then, so I did not go a US consulate to get my new visa. Which means that the visa and the I94 in my passport have both expired.

To file the form I-485, I am asked for information regarding my I-94 and my nonimmigrant visa. What information should I put?
I have a I-94 that came with my I-797 but my visa is expired. Can I still use it to file the paperwork?

    Hello,
I'm in the exact same situation. Is it OK to give an expired non - immigrant visa number. I have a valid i-94.

    Thank you in advance
