  • Vaccination records of my mother

Hi all - My mother(68 years old) is in INDIA now, I am planning to apply for her GC when she is here on a B2 visa(in july). I have gone through following vaccination requirements

I would like to get those vaccinations done in INDIA and get a letter from the doctor, since its very expensive here. I need to pay from my pocket.

    I have following questions
    1. Can her visitor's medical insurance cover these vaccinations?
    2. If not, what all vaccinations need to given in INDIA?

    Thank you.

Your mother will still need an immigrant medical exam document (I-693) in a sealed envelope to be submitted with your Adjustment of Status package. Obtaining shots in India will serve to reduce (or eliminate) the needed shots when she goes to a USCIS-listed doctor in the States, but shots required is a judgment made by doctors in the U.S.,based on proof of prior shots, age and medical condition of applicant. I've sent clients to USCIS-listed doctors in the U.S. who responded in a variety of ways: 1. Complete waiver (but still required a TB skin test ad blood test) for a 93-year-old French immigrant; 2. Waiver because of pregnancy; 3. Full battery of shots because record of immigrant exam shots received in Manila before arrival was lost.

Locate a USCIS-listed doctor in your area through the following USCIS link:

      Thank you very much Ray.
I called one of the doctors and he suggested to give following shots in india

      a) pneumococcal vaccine
      b) tet**** shot
      c) TB test

Once she is here they'll do tests, if she is immune to MMR etc.

        Lovetxavier,

The TB test in India will be a waste of money, as she will have to do it again for her immigrant medical exam in the U.S., whether she had it already or not. Tet**** shot is a good idea. I don't know if there is any advantage or benefit getting the pneumococcal shot in advance, probably a good idea.
