  • Co-Sponsor question

I am currently moving forward with the paperwork to sponsor my father. I am a stay at home mom therefore do not have any personal income. My husband who earns more than enough to be a co-sponsor does not wish to do so however I do have and aunt and uncle who are more than willing to be financial sponsors.
My question is: Do I require my husbands permission and/or signature on the necessary forms to permit my uncle to be co-sponsor.
    I am a US citizen.

As the petitioner for your father, you will be the primary sponsor, even if you have no income or insufficient income. You still have to submit an I-864.

Anyone age 21 or old with U.S. citizenship or Green Card status can be a joint sponsor by submitting a separate I-864, with tax return copy, W2 and/or 1099 copies, employment verification letter, and proof of U.S. status.

You don't need permission from your husband to have someone else assist with sponsoring your father.
