How many of you sponsor GC for your parents on your own.

I am debating whether to hire an atty or do it on my own to sponsor
GC for my mom and my brother. How easy is the process if you do it yourself.?
The cheapest atty I could find is charging $900 to file 130 and 495.
Also my second questions is my mom will be visiting me soon and she has a return ticket in 6 months.
If I file for adjustment of status before her return date, is it legal for her to stay?
Or do I need to file another form to extend her stay.

Actually, $900 is pretty cheap for a "real, qualified" attorney to do this conversion procedure. I think you meant I-485, rather than "495."
