  • Process taking so long, any temporary permit solutions?

I’m a Norwegian citizen, married to an American citizen. We have lived in Norway together for 13 years, and have now decided to move to the USA. My husband has already moved back, and me and our 2 children, who are also US citizens, are going to join him this summer.
We started my green card process in March, but have still heard nothing except gotten a receipt from USCIS - no case number yet. We are now quite worried this will take a very long time to get processed. We are wondering what we can do while we wait?
I’m traveling as a tourist on ESTA with my children in July. Can we then apply for a temporary visa of some sort, so that I can actually stay in the US with my family? Or do I have to go back to Norway after 90 days and then wait here until I get the green card, which might take another 6 months??
I have a job offer in the US that I might have to say no to because of the long processing time… Are there any loopholes, any other alternatives for us? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
