  • Affidavit of Support: Some Questions

Hi there all, we're having a bit of a problem; Back in May I sent in the Affidavit of Support for my foreign husband and forgot to include a paper to prove my family had some stocks. Once I realized my error, I wrote the National Visa Center that very day asking what I should do. 2-3 weeks later I received an automatic email saying they were looking at the form and to please wait, no answer to my question. I didn't just wait on the email though; I called the NVC office in New Hampshire several times over that time and only received a busy signal. No automatic voice message, nothing, just a busy signal. From the looks of what I've seen on the internet, that's just how it is.. Don't suppose there's another number I can call? I called seven times in one day once and got the same thing each time.

Another issue is while I'm waiting on what they have to say about the AoS, my husband and I started getting really interested in looking for a house... Now, I know I told the NVC I don't own my own home yet but what happens if we want to buy a house for the future? Will that screw up the AoS form I just sent in and will we just need to wait? (Probably...) I kinda don't want to wait because I live with my family and they're also sorta trying to 'encourage' me out (in a reasonable fashion). Maybe it's too early to think of a house... Anyway. The priority date for the AoS is in a few weeks but I wanted to ask and see if anyone has any ideas anyway, always good to hear what someone else has to say. :P Thank you!

You're trying too hard and worried about problems which don't exist.

There is no need to amend an Affidavit of Support until you are asked to amend it. There is no need to worry about a possible home purchase affecting your visa paperwork until and unless there is an address change, which can be reported to USCIS and on the DS-260 visa application while still at the NVC.

Relax and wait until the NVC comes to you if they don't like what you submitted.

      No need to worry!!!

You should not have a problem or get checklisted by NVC for that, as long as you meet the minimum income requirement for your household. There is no automatic voice message from nvc phone number, the number is always busy because thousands of people are calling, you just have to keep dailing the number till you are connected and you will be on hold for several minutes from 15mins to maybe 1hour so be prepared to wait on the phone. Just a piece of advise, nvc takes several weeks or 30working days to reply or review any email or mail.
