Hello everyone,
My wife and I married on June 17, 2014. She came to the U.S. on a visitor's VISA (B-2).
We have began to fill out the Adjustment of Status Package, including Form I-864.
I have filled out an I-864 for myself since I am the petitioner. However, I do not meet the financial requirement to be her sole sponsor.
I asked my father to be the joint sponsor and to fill out another Form I-864. However, he has not completed his 2013 taxes and has asked for an extension instead.
He will not be able to complete the anytime soon as he still has much work to do.
My questions are these:
Can I still use my father as a joint sponsor?
If so, is there another way to establish his financial standing besides sending his Tax information?
Can he use his bank account statements to prove how much he has made in 2013?
What are some ways around this?
_____
Another question:
On my form I-864, I had my wife (the intending immigrant) fill in her amount of money in her bank account and in assets. Does she need to fill out any additional forms? Does she need to photocopy a bank statement or something?
And will it increase our yearly income as a household, or will the USCIS offices only look at my income alone?
Also, what documentation besides evidence of Naturalization/Citizenship, and Income will they need?
