  • Green Card for my mom

    Dear Forum members,

I'm honestly confused and need some clarification. I'd really appreciate any of your feedback and help.

I'd like to apply for a green card for my mom. I'm eligible to do that now, however the paperwork i need to file - i'm not too clear on that.

I was born in india in mid 70's, as expected I don't have a birth certificate, but i do have a non availability of birth certificate.

Is it sufficient to send the for I-130, my marriage certificate and my non availability of birth certificate to the UCIS.

I'm being told that I have to get my birth certificate and my mom's birth certificate to even consider applying for the green card for my mom - is that entirely true??

Can I start the process of sending my mom's application with my marriage certificate and my non availability of birth certificate to the UCIS?

    Please advise....

    thank you much!

(in the past, you guys helped me figure out a lot of stuff, so i'm hoping this time too i'll get some direction from one of you)...

    Green Card for my mom

How did you become a permanent resident or a US Citizen? If you used the birth certificate you already have, and they accepted it , I don't think you will have a problem using the same one again.

      Hi Claudia0124:

That was exactly what i thought, when i applied for my Green Card, I submitted an affidavit from my mom and a non-availability of my birth certificate.

But I've been getting contradicting info and it's throwing me off.

If i send it as is, will i get a request for further evidence?? Are there any supplemental papers I can send? Would you know?

      Thank you,
      SmileTT

        Green Card for my mom

SmileTT. I don't know, but my guess is that you won't find out until you do it. I'm currently sponsoring my mother and all the paperwork it pretty overwhelming but doable. Good luck!

that's what I did, i took a chance, its daunting with all the paperwork, keep it straight. We had to send a younger relative to the place she was born and pull in strings to get her non-availability of birth certificate. I gave a copy of my non-availability of birth certificate and all other documents. I sent it via fed-ex and they received it today, so i'll keep it updated here how it goes. Good Luck with your mom's sponsorship too.

            I864 OR I864 EZ .... Proof Of Assets...CONFUSED

            Dear All:

I got the I130 approval and was requested to send affidavit of support for my mom. but i'm honestly confused. I864 OR I864 EZ; Proof of assets etc

I started working mid of last year, and on and off consulting gigs, not sur eif i should use I864 withmy earnings or I864EZ with my spouse's earnings for the last 3 years tax returns. If i do a i864ez does he need to complete and sign a 864a ??

Also, we bought a house that we pay mortgage for, does this qualify for proof of asset. If it does, do i get in touch in the mortgage company to give me proof of assets. how do i go about getting the proof of assets?

do i need a SSP earning statement if i'm below poverty line if i'm not below poverty line, do i still need Social sec earning statements.

My thoughts are all scattered and i can use some direction? Can someone please help
