  • Parents greencard

    Hi,
My parents are located in India and they are having an interviews for the greencard.
I wanted to know what sort of questions do they ask for greencard approval.
In how much it does it come .
And for how long do they have to stay in the Us to get the citizenship.

Your parents are being interviewed for immigrant visas, though the Green Card does follow after issuance of visas, payment of $165 fee, and arrival in the U.S.

They will have to have Green Card status in the U.S. for 4 years and 9 months to apply for U.S. naturalization.

      Thankyou ray for ur reply
      But my concern is
1: what sort of questions are asked during the interview?
2: after the interview how long does it take for the green card to be issued?
3: once issued for how long do they have to stay in the US?
Can they do few months in I dis and few in the US ?

        1. They'll be asked questions about their relationship with you and about their plans for living in the U.S.
        2. The Green Card does not follow the interivew. The immigrant visa follows the interview by 3-10 days. You must pay a $165 fee online to USCIS for the Green Card to be mailed to your U.S. address after your parent arrives in the U.s.
        3. There is no set time requirement to stay in the U.S. after a Green Card is issued.
        4. If they are out of the U.S. too frequently or more than a year, without a Reentry Permit, they risk loss of Green Card status.
